15 year old Morgan Greyser, a Wisconsin teenager who took part in the attempted murder of Payton Leutner in 2014, has just been sentenced to 40 years in a mental institution. After Greyser and accomplice, Anissa Weier, spoke on the matter revealing to the jury that the reason for committing the crime was so they could "become a "proxies" to Slederman, whom they believed was going to hurt their families." Greyser was originally only sentenced to 25 years in mental instability care after pleading guilty under reasons of insanity, but after discovering the attempted murder was premeditated, the sentencing was increased by another 15 years. Now, speaking into further, analytical depth about the article, the author, or speaker of the piece uses simple diction and sentence structure to get the entire story across as simple and understanding as possible. Seeming to appeal to an audience of all ages, especially parents and prepubescent teenagers, the author uses a very strict and serious tone, not only when using their own words, but also when leading in and emphasizing direct statements from the two convicted felons. The author expresses each and everyone very strongly in hopes of foregrounding the overall purpose of how the internet and videogames are slowly causing insanity within our youth and how it needs to be stopped soon, or maybe next time, the next victim, will not be so lucky.
